Q1. How can I apply Online for admission to NUST?

A candidate / applicant can fill and submit the application form available at NUST website www.nust.edu.pk after getting registered by providing his/her valid email address.

Q2. What documents are required to be submitted along with application forms?

Prospective candidates must be in possession of either Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or Form' B' without which the application for registration will not be accepted. Online registration system will not require attachment of documents/credentials. However these documents will be required for verification during selection and admission process.

 

Q3. Where should I deposit the online application processing fee?

The application fee in Pakistani rupees can be deposited in any branch of HBL or Standard Chartered Bank as per challan, to be printed on completion of online application.

Q4. Can I apply on SAT Basis?

You can apply on SAT basis, NUST requires following SAT scores:-

  • For Engineering - SAT subject test score in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Level-II
  • For Architecture/Computer Science- SAT subject test score in Physics and Mathematics Level-II
  • For Medical - SAT subject test score in Physics, Chemistry and Biology E or M (A minimum of 550 score is required in each subject to apply for Medical Programmes.)
  • For BBA/BS Economics / BS Mass Communication / Bachelor in Public Administration - SAT Reasoning Test
  • For BS Mathematics - SAT Subject Test score in Math Level-II
  • For Applied Biosciences - SAT Subject Test score in Biology M

Q5. Can I apply through SAT as well as Entry Test?

Yes, you can apply through both the streams but will be required to pay additional application fee.

Q6. What category of candidates can apply on SAT basis?

Any candidate can apply on SAT basis provided he/she has SAT score for the chosen disciplines of study. Admission on SAT basis has two categories National & International. Candidates admitted on National SAT basis pay tuition fee & allied charges in Pak Rupees whereas candidates admitted against International seats pay the required dues in US Dollars. For candidates of Medical programmes, who want to apply for international seats, the following categories will be eligible:-

  • Pakistani national students having passed an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan while being abroad, from a foreign education system.
  • Foreigners and Pakistanis having dual nationality, irrespective of the place of their pre-medical study, Pakistan or abroad.
  • Pakistani students studied abroad for pre-medical but appearing in the Pakistani board from abroad.

Q7. What score of SAT is needed?

Seats for SAT stream candidates are limited. Therefore, a candidate with high score stands better chances of selection. For medical candidates the minimum score needed is 550 in each subject.

Q8. I am in my final year of A Level & my result will come out in August 2012, can I apply?

Yes, you can apply as in such case you will be evaluated on the basis of ‘O’ level equivalence marks but you have to provide equivalence certificate of ‘A’ level within 15 days of announcement of result, before the commencement of relevant programme of study.

Q10. Does NUST offer Scholarships/Financial Assistance?

  • 15% of top merit position holders in NUST entry test with respect to total seats in respective disciplines will be awarded waiver of tuition fee for the 1st semester (6 months) except in Medical sciences where these will be awarded waiver of tuition fee for 1st academic year on joining the discipline.
  • All those students who continue to show good academic performance and maintain a GPA of 3.5 and above out of 4.0 (in case of all UG programmes except Medical Sciences) and 70% and above (in case of Medical) will continue to get financial assistance in each semester/academic year within the range of 15-75% of tuition fee.

Q20.  I am a Pakistani living abroad, can I apply for admission as an international student?

Yes, you can apply for admission against seats reserved for international students by submitting SAT Score and meet the specified eligibility criteria. Candidates have to enter their SAT score at link available on My Account page after submission of application form. Those who do not enter their SAT score by due date will be assigned zero weightage.

Q21. I am a foreigner and want to get admission in NUST?

You have to apply on SAT basis through your embassy as an international student. For details including payment of fee in US Dollars, please refer to relevant portion in the prospectus on our website.

Q22. What is the eligibility criteria for international students?

To apply as international student, candidates have to provide SAT subject/SAT reasoning test score as per requirement along with minimum 60% marks in Matric/Equivalent and FA/ FSc/Equivalent exams.

Q23. What is the eligibility criteria for International Students (Medical Sciences Programmes)?

NUST has some SAT specific seats in Medical Sciences for international students. For admission in Medical programmes, following categories are eligible:

  • Pakistani national students having passed an examination equivalent to intermediate level of Pakistan while being abroad, from a foreign education system.
  • Foreigners and Pakistanis having dual nationality, irrespective of the place of their pre-medical study, Pakistan or abroad.
  • Pakistani students studied abroad for pre-medical but appearing in a Pakistani board from abroad.

To apply as international student on SAT basis, candidates have to provide SAT subject test score (in Physics, Chemistry and Biology E or M) with minimum of 550 SAT score in each of the three (3) subjects. The candidates must also have minimum of 60% marks in Matric/ Equivalent &FSc/Equivalent exams also.

Minimum 60% marks each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics subjects in FSc or A Level/equivalent exams (certified by IBCC) for Medical programmes.

Desirous candidates can avail the facility accordingly, provided they meet the specified eligibility criteria and are willing to pay tuition fee and allied charges of the category.

Q24. If I have taken SAT reasoning & SAT Subject Tests, do I still have to sit in the entry test?

Those applying on SAT basis need not to take NUST Entry Test, however they can opt for NUST Entry Test in addition to SAT Specified seats. In this way, they will be considered in both streams.

Q25. Is an equivalence certificate of qualification other than Matric &FSc / FA necessary? Can I not submit my O'level and A' level certificates? (I ask so, because I will be applying from abroad)?

Equivalence certificates duly issued by IBCC, Pakistan are necessary for those candidates who do not possess Matric &FSc / FA qualifications. Submission of only O&A level grade / mark sheets will not serve the purpose.

Determination of admission seats are made on year to year basis depending upon availability of infrastructure and other relevant facilities.

Q28. Would the admission processing fee / security deposit be refundable in case a student does not join the University?

The university will refund only the security deposit to the candidates who do not join the university. Admission Processing Fee is non-refundable.

Q29. I could not appear in NUST Entrance Test, Can I take the Test on some other day?

NUST is conducting NET in paper based format on one day and in computer based format in two sessions daily on different days as per the schedule. As a policy if a candidate misses the test session he/she is not given another chance. But in case of extreme emergency requests may be entertained on case to case basis.

There is no negative marking.

Q31. Is there any restriction of marital status of students at Army Medical College?

Yes, students should be unmarried while studying at AM College.

Q32. I have done FSc with Computer Science instead of Chemistry, for which NUST study programmes can I apply?

FSc / equivalent with a combination of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Studies or Computer Science can apply for admission in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, BS Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, BS Mathematics, Architecture and Business Studies / Social Sciences programmes only.

Yes you have an option to give either computer based or paper based Entrance Test from following cities:-

Q37. What is the deadline for submission of SAT score?

Last date for SAT score to reach NUST directly from College board, USA is 15th July 2012.. NUST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 2790. It is the responsibility of candidates to ensure the provision of SAT scores to Undergraduate Section, NUST, Sector H-12, Islamabad by the given deadline.

Q39. What is the tuition fee for International Students?

Tuition fee for Medical Programmes is US$ 10,000/- per year. For all other programmes it is US$ 3500/- per year.

Q40. Is migration to NUST allowed?

Yes, as per migration policy, student can apply for migration after completion of first year and before the beginning of final year. Please refer to prospectus 2012 for further queries.

Q43. What is the syllabus of entry test subjects and format of questions?

The entry test is mostly based upon FA / FSc level studies (Part-1 & Part-II) and questions are in the form of MCQs. The paper of English is on the lines of SAT exam. A sample paper may be seen on NUST website. For Architecture programme only, a Cognitive and Aptitude test will be conducted which is descriptive type.

Q45. What is the total time of Entry Test?

Total time of entry test will be 3 hours.

Q46. Can I get some sample test papers of NUST Entry Test?

Mock Test for Computer Based / Paper Based Test is uploaded on NUST website www.nust.edu.pk under the link Downloads for candidates to practice.

Q47. When is the result of NUST Entry Test published?

Provisional merit lists will be published 20 days after the last session of test and placed on NUST website for information of candidates.

Q50. When Will the Candidates of MBBS/BDS/Applied Biosciences be able to print admit card?

For printing of Admit cards, applicants for MBBS/BDS/Applied Biosciences are required to enter their complete FSc/A level equivalence marks. You can login to your account even after closing of the registration date for entering the marks and subsequently selecting the test schedule.
