NCSC Blood Donation Drive -2015
NUST Community Services Club (NCSC) in collaboration with Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion (AFIT) organized a two day blood donation camp in IGIS ground, NUST H-12. The event was held on 15-16th December 2015. Both days, the event started at 11 am and continued till 6 pm. There was a festive mood in the atmosphere which attracted more and more people. The organizers were kept busy the whole time by a steady stream of donors willing to fulfil their civic duty.
A high standard of hygiene was maintained by all the organizers. Proper care was taken during the storage and transport of the collected blood. Safety and cleanliness of the utensils used was also ensured.
According to the reviews collected from the donors, they were generally quite satisfied with the management and the set up. By the end of day 2, the Wall of Donors was filled with post-its containing quirky and heroic messages from donors.
The donors were properly screened for medical fitness before being allowed to donate. They were required to take a blood test and get their weight checked, and only then were they given the green signal. Although numerous people showed up with the intention to donate, but several were declared unfit. Despite the fact, 227 pints of blood were collected.
All the donors were given refreshments in order to help them recover fully. Transport facility was also available for people willing to donate.
