NUST community service learning course
participants established a bio gas plant in a village near Golra in November
2014. The purpose of the project was to provide gas for domestic users in the
area. The plant will provide sufficient gas a day to five homes. The project
was conducted by students of School of Chemical and Material Engineering (SCME)
and was supervised by SCME faculty advisor Mr. Sikandar Awan. The project was
partially funded by NUST Community Service Club. Other than NCSC, the funds
were collected by the students themselves from various sources.
The students carried out a need analysis
of the area where they completed the marking where the plant was to be
constructed. After that, the students began the work of digging at the end of
November. The plant is now functional and providing gas to five homes.
