 NUST FEATURES PROMINENTLY IN QS SUBJECT RANKINGS 2019

 

Islamabad February 28, 2019 – With its infallible reputation globally as a quality higher education institution with a strong academic and R&D base, National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) has been ranked at the top in Engineering & Technology in Pakistan, as per Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Subject Rankings 2019, released on February 27, 2019.

NUST has already been featuring prominently in the 4 disciplines of Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Computer Science & Information Systems; Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering and Physics & Astronomy. Adding more feathers to it cap, the university, for the first time, has been ranked by QS in the categories of Business & Management and Mathematics. With this new meritorious accomplishment, NUST now is well-placed in 6 subject-wise rankings out of a total of 48 subject areas, and is also leading the table among Pakistani universities in the subjects of Electrical & Electronic Engineering; Computer Science & Information Systems and Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering.

It also merits mention that NUST has been persistently featuring in other ranking categories of QS for the past several years: it is currently ranked among top 500 world universities, top 100 Asian universities, and top 100 young world universities. NUST also takes pride in being Pakistan’s #1 Engineering & Technology university as per latest HEC Rankings. In addition, NUST was recently ranked 246th in “CEOWORLD Magazine Best Global Universities Ranking 2019," the only Pakistani university to carve a niche among selected 500 global universities.


SUBJECT-WISE QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS – 2018-19

 

National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) have again achieved distinction in Engineering & Technology and subject wise rankings by QS in 2018.  We now feature amongst the world’s elite institutions in 4 of the 48 subjects areas. NUST stands 272nd in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 320th in the field of Computer Science and Information Systems, 371st in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering, and 467th in the field of Physics & Astronomy world over. In the Faculty of Engineering & Technology we are at 279.
 
NUST IMPROVES GLOBAL RANKING 2017 IN FOUR DISCIPLINES


National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has risen to even greater prominence as per the latest subject-wise rankings (2017) by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. According to the details, NUST now features amongst the world’s elite institutions in 4 of the 46 subjects area featured in this year’s QS World University Rankings by subject. According to the details, NUST stands (367) position in Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering, (472) in the field of Physics & Astronomy, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (270) and (273) in the field of Computer Science and Information Systems. 

NUST has also improved its ranking by Faculty in Engineering & Technology from 340 to 275. It is worth mentioning here that NUST is the only Pakistani university to be ranked in the field of Engineering & Technology since 2015.  

It is to be noted that thousands of universities from all over the world are considered for evaluation. However, only 1117 universities made it to the final ranking list. Over a hundred and twenty seven million citations / attributions were analyzed for around 18,900 programs. The methodology for evaluation combines analysis from QS Global Employer and Academic Surveys with bibliometric data from Elsevier’s Scopus database (www.iu.qs.com). This singular achievement is a result of stringent quality assurance regime of the University.

NUST IMPROVES GLOBAL RANKING IN TWO DISCIPLINES - 2016


National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has risen to even greater prominence as per the latest subject-wise rankings (2016) by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. According to the details, NUST now stands 215th (the previous position being 271) in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and 272nd (from last year 338) in the discipline of Computer Science and Information Systems.

It is worth mentioning here that thousands of universities from all over the world are considered for evaluation. However, only 894 universities made it to the final ranking list. Over a hundred million citations / attributions were analyzed for around 14,000 programs. The methodology for evaluation combines analysis from QS Global Employer and Academic Surveys with bibliometric data from Elsevier’s Scopus database (www.iu.qs.com). This singular achievement is a result of stringent quality assurance regime of the University.


QS SUBJECT-WISE WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS - 2015



NUST now features amongst the world’s elite institutions in 2 of the 36 subjects in this year’s QS World University Rankings by subject, announced on April 29, 2015. NUST is now ranked at 271 in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and 338 in the field of Computer Science & Information Systems.

Out of the 3,551 universities considered for evaluation 894 made it to the final rankings list. Over a 100 million citations attributions were analyzed for over 14,000 programs, to obtain the results. The methodology combines analysis from QS Global Employer and Academic Surveys with bibliometric data from Elsevier’s Scopus database (www.iu.qs.com).

It is pertinent to mention that NUST has consistently maintained its position among the top 500 world universities for the last 8 years. It is also ranked among the top 130 Asian Universities. Recently, NUST was included among the top 100 universities of BRICS (including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and 17 emerging economies of the world. It has been made possible through stringent quality assurance regime at NUST, as seen by its Internal Quality Assurance Award by Asia Pacific Quality Network, and very recent Academic Integrity Award given by the prestigious Turnitin Corporation, USA.

These awards and distinctions are not only a matter of pride for the nation, but also reflect the progress being made by Pakistan in the field of higher education, for which the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is working tirelessly. The students, faculty and staff of NUST deserve full appreciation for winning this distinction.
