National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) organised the ‘NUST Career Fair’ at Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), one of NUST’s constituent institutes, on April 20, 2018. Besides various Schools and Colleges of NUST, senior management of renowned companies attended the fair. The aim of event was to strengthen the relationship between NUST and the Karachi-based industry. Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI (M), (Retd), Rector NUST, was the chief guest at the occasion.
The event began with an introduction about NUST and its achievements, followed by Rector NUST’s address to the NUST students, faculty, and Industry from various sectors, in which he highlighted the importance of academia-industry linkages and their far-reaching results for the country’s economy. The Rector further said, “It is a healthy activity to enhance academia-industry collaboration and an opportunity to find out the needs of market, so that the university produces graduates that meet the industrial requirements.”
There was a vehicle-unveiling ceremony of Formula Electric Racing NUST (FERN) by the Chief Guest; the racing car will be representing Pakistan in UK this year. The event showcased various projects of NUST constituent institutes.
Industry gurus from Engro Foods, Nestle, National Refinery, Martin Dow Pharmaceuticals, PARCO, Pakistan Petroleum Ltd, Dollar Industries, Unilever Pakistan, Sapphire Textiles and many others visited the stalls. Students and faculty discussed their projects with relevant industry partners.
One of the industrialists at the occasion termed the fair a good initiative to help industry and academia work together for mutual benefit. The industry appreciated and acknowledged the efforts made by NUST in bridging this gap.
