Graduates of NUST School of Social Sciences (S3H) 2018 were conferred degrees in the disciplines of Economics, Mass Communication, Public Administration, Clinical Psychology and Development Studies at the school’s undergraduate and postgraduate convocation held at the university’s main campus on November 13, 2018. Mr Tariq Sayeed Saigol, a leading Pakistani industrialist, graced the occasion as chief guest.
In his address, he congratulated the young scholars on having graduated from the country’s premier university. He lauded NUST for producing graduates fully poised to take on the socio-economic challenges facing Pakistan. He particularly commended the School of Social Sciences for growing as a vibrant part of NUST.

Earlier, Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI (M), (Retd), Rector NUST, said that there is a pressing need for a better understanding of ongoing social, political and economic developments occurring at the global stage, which has doubled the significance of social sciences in the contemporary times. Referring to the rise of China as an established economic power, he said Pakistan, being the “Iron Brother” of China needs to learn as to how China grew so fast, adding NUST had taken the lead in Pakistan by establishing a Chinese Studies Center, which would soon offer a degree programme in Sinology.
