NUST IGIS Team Wins Silver award in P@sha ICT Annual Awards 2019

Team of NUST Institute of Geographical Information Systems (IGIS) has won silver award in Tertiary Student category of P@sha ICT Annual Awards 2019, held at Lahore on September 21, 2019. The P@SHA Awards are the premier event of the IT industry and bring together business leaders from various sectors as well as diplomats and media. The Chief Guest for the awards ceremony was the Honorable Asad Umar, who is Former Federal Minister of Finance and Senior Party Leader at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Alif Programming Language is a project of NUST IGIS students, Umair Mukhtar and Zain ul Islam. It is a computer language developed to help teach programming to children who don't understand English, and allows the users to code in Urdu. 

This year, more than 350 applicants from across Pakistan, ranging from largest IT companies to promising new start-ups and students, submitted their projects in 9 main and 37 sub-categories in the competition. Team IGIS aims to provide programming education to millions of unprivileged kids of Pakistan, who don't understand English, hence enlightening them with the knowledge of Computer Science and Logic Making.

NUST congratulates Umair Mukhtar and Zain ul Islam on this remarkable achievement and wishes them all the best for their future.
