The guest speaker dwelt on all the factors regarding country’s past, present, future successes and failures. Paying tribute to Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Mushahid Hussain, termed him the man of character who changed the destinies of millions of Muslims of the sub-continent. He started his talk by praising Quaid and his undeniable contributions for creation of Pakistan. He further added that the most important characteristic of a good leader, besides being fearless is truthfulness, integrity and courage, especially in difficult times, and having the strength and perseverance to steer his people out of difficulties. He had a vision that resonated with the voice of the people, rather than one which was based on his own personal gains.
The Speaker further said that anyone can be a good leader, if they have faith in themselves and take the right steps making right decision in life. While addressing the students, faculty members and the Rector NUST, he told how being a cosmopolitan, a successful barrister, speaking mostly English, Jinnah dismissed his rivals successfully. His personality demanded a cool, cerebral response, working through legal and constitutional channels to bring about an end to British rule. Quaid’s firm determination guided a community which followed his goal- Pakistan. He said that the unconditional and blind support of the Muslims to their beloved leader was the actual force behind this historic achievement.
He said the calendar of Pakistan’s founding year 1947 and 2014 have not only similarities in the sequence of days, but also in the sense that 1947 was year of withdrawal of the British Empire from the region and hopefully 2014 will be proven as the year of withdrawal of US and NATO forces from the neighboring country, Afghanistan.
Highlighting the achievements of Pakistan, Mushahid said the country’s positive contributions for international community are widely recognized. They are specially acknowledged by the Muslim countries like Bosnia, Afghanistan and Arab states, which consider Pakistan as a “source of strength and inspiration.”
The speaker also touched upon some vital Economic and Political issues of Pakistan, saying that due to exponential deterioration of law-and-order, Pakistan is losing a lot on the global forum. He closed the house for further discussion with a brief question and answer session
After an inspiring well-delivered talk, Rector NUST took the stage and shared his thought with the audience. He highlighted the role of Pakistan globally and thanked the chief guest for gracing the event with his presence.
