Engine Tribology Lab
This lab is dedicated to the study of interaction between different engine components such as Valve Trains, Piston-Cylinder Assembly and Cams-Followers.We have instrumented engines on test rigs with the help of which we can evaluate different oils in comparative studies. Currently we are working on the following projects:
  • Instrumenting VW Audi Engine with eddy-current sensor to monitor the Tappet Rotation.

  • Developing a novel technique using GMR sensor for tappet rotation in Engine.

  • Measurement of Friction at Cam-Tappet interface in the Mercedes 86811 Engine.

  • Development of Blow-by Monitoring Systems for different engines.
