(1) IAESTE:

IAESTE stands for the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience. It is a committee established for academic, industrial and student interests. IAESTE has a National Committee in each country and various Local Committees under that, serving for the cause of IAESTE.

HISTORY

IAESTE was formed in 1948 at Imperial College London. It was organized for the betterment of the students and to establish friendly relations with different countries. IAESTE also aimed to understand the different cultures.
Since 1948, more than 80 countries have been a part of IAESTE and worldwide 300,000 trainees have been exchanged. Every year, IAESTE exchanges around 7000 students. IAESTE helps the trainees to get a better understanding of the technical work and relationship between different cultures.

IAESTE-PAKISTAN

Pakistan became a member of IAESTE in 1990.The National Secretary of IAESTE-PAKISTAN is Dr. S. A. Hassan and the head office is located in Karachi. IAESTE-Pakistan is growing with time. More than 400 students have been offered internships worldwide. Pakistan has also served many foreign students in different universities and companies. IAESTE-Pakistan has two local committees:

1. IAESTE-KARACHI

2. IAESTE-ISALAMABAD

IAESTE-ISLAMABAD

IAESTE-Islamabad has been initiated by Dr Arshad Ali, Director General of NUST-SEECS. Dr Arshad Ali has been working very efficiently for the IAESTE cause. IAESTE-ISLAMABAD aims to connect students with employers in foreign countries, provide university students technical experience and enrich them culturally.

(2)One World Youth Project:

One World Youth Project (OWYP) is a youth-for-youth educational program linking schools globally in service-learning to prepare the next generation for the globalized 21st Century.

Mission

One World Youth Project (OWYP) formalized a partnership with the National University of Sciences and Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (NUST-SEECS) to provide Pakistani youth with the global life skills needed for success in the 21st century. Through the OWYP program, university student participants gain tools to teach global citizenship and local leadership in surrounding secondary schools. NUST students will be trained by OWYP to facilitate a global citizenship curriculum in Islamabad’s local schools. It also links them with classrooms abroad via technology and social media.

Description

One World Youth Project provides educators with tools to teach global education and also the support to use these tools as ways of enhancing the existing curriculum while fitting each classroom or campus’ unique culture and needs.
They connect schools to transform students into empowered, discerning and empathetic global actors.

(3) ACM

Mission

  • To provide the students of SEECS with the opportunity to fully utilize the benefits of ACM.
  • To induce the habits of thinking and research among students by exposing them to new technologies and trends through seminars and workshops. 
  • To facilitate SEECS students in acquiring knowledge that will become the foundation upon which they can build their future.
  • To provide all necessary academic and co-curricular facilities to approach physical and mental completeness.

ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.

    General Information

    The Association for Computing Machinery was founded as the Eastern Association for Computing Machinery in a meeting at Columbia University in New York on September 15, 1947.In January 1948, the word "Eastern" was dropped from the name of the Association.

    Institutional memberships for companies and universities were introduced in 1960. As of 2006, some 2,000 universities and companies had become institutional, consortia, or, corporate members. Professional Membership is 62,000, and Student Membership totals 20,000, for a total of more than 84,000 members.

    Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, read I-Triple-E) is a non-profit professional association headquartered in the United States, that is dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence. It has more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries, about 45% of whom reside outside the United States.
