Dr. Zakir Hussain

 Dr. Zakir Hussain received his PhD in Organic Chemistry/Materials Science from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany and M.Phil. in Organic Chemistry from the Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. He has over twelve years of research experience while working as scientist, senior scientist, project leader and lab head at various R & D organizations in Germany and Austria. His earlier employers include 55pharma Drug Discovery & Development AG, Vienna; Tetragon Chemie AG, Liechtenstein; SONY Europe, Stuttgart, Germany.

He was also a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck Institute in Muelheim, Germany on a Volkswagen funded project. His areas of specialization include liquid crystals materials for fast response display applications, polymers for alignment technologies, synthesis & characterization of Nano materials, synthesis of materials for organic solar cells (DSSC, OPVs) and LC based biosensors for environmental pollutants/heavy metals detection. He has recently joined SCME and submitted a project on LC based sensors development for funding and started working on its PoP. Additionally, he is also involved in designing and synthesizing novel materials for organic solar cells. Dr. Zakir has published more than 20 papers in refereed international journals (ISI indexed) and there are about 12 international patents to his credit.
