BE Metallurgical Engg, (1983) UET, Lahore.  MS Materials Engineering. (1988) University of Manchester, UK.  PhD Corrosion & Protection of metal matrix composites, (1991)  University of Manchester, UK.

Dr. Mohammad Shahid did his PhD in Corrosion & Protection and MS in Metals & Ceramics, from the University of Manchester. His first degree was BSc in Metallurgical Engineering from UET Lahore. He worked for about 18 years in industry before joining academia in 2000. He has been a faculty member of GIK Institute of Engineering for 6 years before joining NUST. Currently he is working as Professor/HoD Materials Engineering. His areas of specialization include corrosion & protection, environmental degradation of materials, synthesis & characterization of micro- and nano- metal and polymer based composite materials and structure-property relationships in materials. He is also supervising a research project on development of rubber base Auxetic materials with negative Poisson’s ratio. He has recently started work on rubber base polymer adhesives for local industry and also catalytic oxidation of water for energy applications. Dr. Shahid has published a number of papers in international journals and presented his work at various national and international conferences.​
