Dr. Amir Habib

Amir Habib received his PhD in Chemical and Analytical Technologies in the year 2008 from Vienna University of Technology. Before this he did his Masters in Physics from the Government College, Lahore, University of the Punjab, Pakistan. His area of specialization is Nanotechnology. During his PhD he worked on ISOTEC project- an Austrian Nano initiative on fabrication and characterization of thin dielectric films for application in organic field effect transistors in Austrian Research Centers Seibersdorf.  He was awarded first price, among all PhD students at Austrian Research Centers, Siebersdorf in the year 2006 for his research work. He is currently working as Associate Professor at School of Chemical and Materials Engineering at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Pakistan.  His group is working on Organic/Perovskite solar cells  with focus on application of solution processed metal oxide structures.  Use of 2D materials like Graphene, MoS2, BN and their application is as well explored in his group with focus to use them for various composite materials applications. Being an active researcher, he has several national and international collaborations. He was awarded for the best researcher of SCME, NUST for the year 2013.He is currently the head of “Energy and Environment” Research group.

Amir Habib is working as Associate Professor at School of Chemical and Materials Engineering, NUST. 

He received his PhD in Analytic and Chemical Technologies and with research focus on Nanotechnology in the year 2008 from Vienna University of Technology. He did his masters in Physics from the Government College, Lahore, and has national and international experience of teaching Physics and graduate and under graduate level. During his PhD he worked in surface engineering group on ISOTEC project- an Austrian Nano initiative on fabrication and characterization of thin dielectric films for application in organic field effect transistors. He has remarkable academic career with throughout first class. Recently he has been awarded the best researcher award at his department for the year 2013. He has been part of the team that initiated an MS program in Nano Science and Engineering at NUST.

 

He was awarded first price worth 7000 Euros, among all PhD students at Austrian Research Centers, Siebersdorf in the year 2006 for his research work. He has published 20 ISI indexed research papers with impact factor few other already accepted and submitted to reputed journals. He has several conference publications. He has presented his work orally at several national and international conferences.

 

He has seven years of post-PhD experience at university level, one PhD scholar and 08 MS students have successfully defended their research under his supervision and currently two PhD and 08 MS students are working under his supervision. He is capable of handling Scanning Electron Microscope and Atomic Force Microscope in its various modes. He uses TEM, XRD, XRF, surface profilometers and LCR meter for impedance analysis for his research work. He has expertise in hydrothermal and sol gel routes for the synthesis of metal oxide nano particles for wide applications in environmental, biomedical and electrical applications. 

 

His group is working on Organic/Inorganic hybrid perovskite photovoltaic devices with focus on application of solution processed metal oxide structures into poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT)/ perovskite based solar cells.

 

Use of 2D materials like Graphene, MoS2, BN and their application is as well explored in his group with focus to use them for various composite materials applications. Being an active researcher, he has several national and international collaborations.
