PhD, Materials and Surface Engineering from SCME-NUST, Islamabad, Pakistan

Muhammad Aftab Akram received his PhD degree in “Materials and Surface Engineering” from SCME NUST in 2017. He completed his MS in Materials and Surface Engineering on Mega S&T Scholarship of NUST and was able to receive President’s Gold Medal in formal convocation. In 2008 he graduated from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore with B.Sc. Engg. degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He was also a visiting scholar at the Department of Physics and Materials Science, City University of Hong Kong. His visit was sponsored by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan to carry out research in the Centre of Super Diamond and Advanced Films  under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Chun-Sing Lee. Till end 2016 he had 19 publications out which 12 were ISI indexed with total impact points of about 27 and above 100 citations.

​Current research work involves:

1.    Development of self-cleaning and low emissivity coatings for glass. 

2.    Fabrication of core/shell nanostructures for energy storage and conversion applications.

3.    CIGS and CZTS based thin films solar cells

4.    Synthesis 2-D materials for Super capacitor and rechargeable battery applications. 

5.    Deposition of high aspect ratio vertically aligned ZnO nanowire arrays for PV and/or gas sensing application

6.    Modeling and simulation of polymer nanocomposites.

7.    Scanning probe microscopic studies of surfaces.
