Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khan Niazi

Muhammad Bilal Khan Niazi received Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from NFC Institute of Engineering & Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad, Pakistan. In 2006, he successfully undertook a nationwide Graduate Record Examination test, resulting in his selection for the overseas “Master leading to PhD” scholarship by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. He did his Master degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Groningen in 2009. He did PhD research in group “Product Technology” under the supervision of Prof Dr A A Broekhuis. During PhD, his research was entirely focused on the production of plasticised thermoplastic starch (TPS) by spray drying. He used different types of starches and plasticisers to produce biodegradable TPS packaging materials via solution spray drying and compression moulding. After Successful completion of his PhD studies in 2013, he joined NUST as an Assistant Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering , SCME in the same year. He proceeded to Norwegian University of Science & Technology (NTNU), Norway, for post doctorate studies on February, 2016 for one year. His work was focused on the development and characterisation of highly swelling polymeric nanocomposite membranes for CO2 separation. He has published several research papers in international refereed Journals. Dr Bilal Khan Niazi has won the research grant of worth PKR 5.8 million from Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, under UITSP Program.​​​
