Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khan Niazi

Muhammad Bilal Khan Niazi received Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from NFC Institute of Engineering & Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad, the Pakistan. In 2006, he successfully undertook a nationwide Graduate Record Examination test, which resulted in his selection for the overseas “Master leading to PhD” scholarship by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. He did his Master degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Groningen in 2009. He continued his studies there and did his PhD research in group “Product Technology” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. A. A. Broekhuis. During PhD, his work was entirely focused on the production of plasticized thermoplastic starch (TPS) by spray drying. He used different types of starches and plasticizers to produce biodegradable TPS packaging materials via solution spray drying and compression molding. After Successful completion of his PhD studies on 12, April 2013, he joined NUST as an Assistant Professor at SCME, Department of Chemical Engineering on 8, May, 2013. He went to NTNU Norway for post doctorate studies on February, 2016 for one year. His work was focused on the development and characterization of highly swelling polymeric nanocomposite membranes for CO2 separation. He has published several research papers in international refereed Journals. Dr. Bilal Khan Niazi has won the research grant of worth Rs. 5.8 millions from Higher Education Commission (HEC) under UITSP Program.
