Heat and Mass transfer, Separation Processes, Mathematical modeling and Simulations.

PhD Chemical Engg., OVG University Magdeburg, Germany.

Prof. Dr. Arshad Hussain did his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Germany. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at Center for Marine CNG, St. Johns Canada, he worked on a research project to study the natural gas compositional, thermo-physical and fluid phase analysis during loading and unloading operations. He has also worked as senior researcher with State Oil Norway and Petronas Malaysia on the process design and feasibility analysis of CO2 Capture from Natural Gas/Flue Gases by using polymer membranes.

His extracurricular activities are worth mentioning for being the Associate Editor NJES, conference secretary CEMP, Member, European Membrane Society and American Institute of Chemical Engineers besides being the Patron of NUST Literary Society.

Besides teaching at BE/MS and PhD levels, he is actively involved in applied research. His contribution in university-industry interaction and international collaboration is of paramount importance. He has the singular distinction of fetching a mammoth funding to the tune of Rs. 48 million under Pak-Norway Inst Coop Program for CO2 Capture from Natural and Flue gases by using polymeric membranes. The project will not only contribute in the development of novel CO2 capture technology but also bring finances to upgrade the R&D facilities of the School. A project to increase the effectiveness of urea fertilizer with FFC and another one for the production of synthetic fuel from sea water can be considered as an effort to address very important national-cum-international issues.
