Dr. Malik Asghar Naeem is currently the Head of Department (Urban and Regional Planning) at National Institute of Transportation (NIT), SCEE, NUST, Islamabad. He has a practical experience of over fifteen years on his credit. Other than serving housing, urban development and public health engineering department, the government of Punjab, as Assistant Director(Town Planning), he also worked for three years at Asian Institute of Technology(AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, for projects relating to ‘Sustainable Cities’ and ‘Integration of Sustainability in Higher Education’, sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Ministry of Environment , Japan and the United Nations University- Institute of Advanced Studies(UNU-IAS) respectively.

The following projects related to urban planning have been successfully completed under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Asghar Naeem:
 
-    Master/Structure plan of Okara City, Muzaffar Garh City, Kabir Wala City, Fazil Pur City
 
-    Designing, planning and management of low-income housing schemes in Khairpur Tamaiwali, Hasilpur, Chistian, Bahawal Nagar and Bhawalpurorts. Duties also included monitoring and evaluation of the projects carried out by the partner universities
