MS Course Description


Program Details

The MS in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System program at IGIS is intended to give an opportunity to the students with background in diverse fields like engineering, environmental sciences, agriculture, forestry, water resource management, city & regional planning, and telecommunication to apply geospatial tools in their respective fields. The MS program in remote sensing & GIS comprised of 30 credit hours with 24 credit hours of course work and 6 credit hours of research thesis. After completion of the MS Remote Sensing and GIS program at IGIS the graduated student is expected to apply the theory or practical knowledge using the geospatial technologies in their respective field of specialization.


Eligibility Criteria

16 years education from HEC Recognized Universities / Institutes in the following disciplines:

Remote Sensing and GIS, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science or Engg, Civil Engg, Forestry, Agriculture, Town Planning, City & Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Oceanography, Electrical Engg, Mechanical Engg or Any Other Relevant Engineering, Aerospace, Automated Mapping, Environmental Management, Military/Defense, Mining, Natural Resources, Oceanography, Oil And Gas, Pipeline, Telecommunication, Transportation, Travel, Utilities, And Water/Wastewater or any relevant / equivalent qualification. Zoology, Botany, Physics, Biology, MBBS, Public Health, Medical Science Disciplines, Construction, Education, Energy, Epidemiology, Forestry, Land Management, Landscape Architecture, Archeology, Trucking, Universities, Advertising, Sociology, Social Work, Economics, Rural Development, Mass Communication, Business Management, Public Administration and Management or any other Social and Management Science Disciplines; Computer Science, Banking, Business, Cadastral/Tax Maps, Community Development, Crime Analysis, Demographics, Emergency Services, Facility Management, Financial Services, Fleet Management, Human Services, Insurance, Intelligence, Law Enforcement, Local Government, Location Services, Logistics, Manufacturing, Marketing, Mass Communication, Planning, Property Management, Public Information, Public Safety, Public Transit, Publishing, Real Estate, Redistricting, Rescue Services, Retail Siting, Route Planning, Sales Force Automation, Sociology and Social Work, Tax Assessment, and Tourism.

Other Requirements for MS Program:

Minimum CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0 or first division (60% marks) unless otherwise mentioned. The percentage will only be valid, if CGPA is not mentioned in the previous (Terminal) degree or academic transcript on the basis of which an applicant is eligible to apply. No third division and only one second division throughout the academic carrier is allowed.

Minimum 50% marks in NTS (GAT) Test or good score in GRE (General) GMAT / MCAT (as applicable). Score of GAT held before 30th Sept, 2006 will not be accepted.
