HEC Approved PhD Supervisor​

Dr Arshad has been serving in academia since 2010. He has designed and taught various undergraduate and postgraduate level courses including Environmental Biotechnology, Environmental Microbiology, Ecology and Risk Assessment, Environmental Analytical Techniques, Freshwater Ecology and Ecological Management. Soil and water pollution, being the global as well as social issues, require ongoing evaluation and revision of policies at all levels. The main focus is to address environmental issues through ecosystem approaches

To execute the research activities, he has been able to win research funding of around PKR 15 million from different funding agencies. Environmental Biotechnology group has successfully completed four environmental/ecosystem sustainability projects and currently, two funded projects are in progress. This research work has led to publication of 55 research articles in different journals of repute with overall cumulative impact factor of 130. He has been able to publish 8 chapters in books from renowned publishers and few are in pipeline. He has 11 full paper conference publications and 37 abstract based proceedings and invited presentations to his credit. He has an H-index of 15 (Google scholar) currently. Four PhD students have completed their doctoral degrees under his supervision. He has supervised more than 30 Master research theses. Currently, he is supervising 4 PhD and 8 MS students for their research work. Partial 16s rRNA gene sequences of 130 bacterial strains with accession numbers have been published online at National Center for Biotechnology Information, DNA Data Bank of Japan and European Nucleotide Archive. He has one national patent that was licensed in 2018.

Dr Arshad has been serving as a member of Board of Studies of different universities. He has been reviewer to many reputed journals and, national and international funding agencies. He is part of various development committees at university and national level with particular focus to environmental sustainability, technology interventions and social development.  ​​
