NUST, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC), McWhorter School of Building Science at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, USA, M.E. Rinker Sr. School of Building Construction at University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, USA and Civil & Environmental Engineering Department, College of Engineering at King Faisal University (KFU) in Al-Hofuf, Al-Ahsa,Saudi Arabia organized a two-day conference on ‘Safety, Construction Engineering and Project Management: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities in Developing Countries.’ The international conference was held from August 20 to 21 at NIT (SCEE) Seminar Hall, NUST.The conference provided an opportunity to employees of public and private sector organizations, engineers, constructors, consultants,researchers, professionals and practitioners to listenand understand the link between construction safety and project management concepts so that practitioners, both present and future, will be equipped to address the issues pertaining to construction industry. This conference was organized as a part of a research project, ‘Establishment of a Center of Excellence to Conduct and Promote Construction Safety Research, Education and Training in Pakistan’ under the Pak-US Joint Academic and Research Program being supervised by Dr. Rafiq Muhammad Choudhry, Principal Investigator (PI) of this project. The inaugural session was chaired by Mr. Muhammad Naveed Akram Cheema, Secretary Housing and Works where 62 foreign and local presenters from 19 different countries participated and presented their research publications.
