National Institute of Transportation (NIT) of School of Civil & Environmental Engineering (SCEE) signed an MoU with Dr. Asif Faiz for donation of his professional collection of over 400 Books, Technical Reports, Journals and CD/DVDs to NIT (SCEE) library. The collection contains some rare books and reference materials of exceptional value worth thousands of dollars hat are no longer in print or commercially available. Dr. Asif Faiz, an advisor/ consultant with the World Bank in transportation engineering and planning, holds a doctorate in transportation engineering from Purdue University, USA and is a Member Emeritus of the Low Volume Roads Committee of the US Transportation Research Board (TRB).
Dr. Asif has had a distinguished 34 years career in the World Bank including several advisory and management positions.He served as the World Bank's Highways Advisor from 1999-2002, and the Country Manager for Sudan from 2005-08.
He is the author of over 60 publications including a book on automotive air pollution. Through his efforts and liaison with TRB of the National Academies, USA, NIT (SCEE) library has also received a rare collection of the Series of Synthesis of Highway Practice from TRB, USA. These books are taken on charge of NIT (SCEE) library and accordingly registered in Catalog [Web Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)]. The addition of such exceptional collection of books in NIT (SCEE) library would add to the knowledge base of the students/ researchers in the area of civil engineering in general and transportation engineering in particular.
