Professor Dr. Zafar Mahmood is Head of Research and Acting Head of Department of Development Studies at S3H. Dr. Mahmood has served as a professional for more than 35 years and he has been serving NUST for the last five years.  He has served both national and international organizations of Pakistan such as Punjab Economic Research Institute, Lahore, Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). Dr. Mahmood holds a doctoral degree in Economics from Columbia University, New York, USA and M.A (Economics) from University of Waterloo, Canada. He has published extensively in national and international journals such as Pakistan Development Review, Economic International and Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (Taylor and Francis Impact Factor Journal). He has also authored eight books on topics ranging from Labor Economics to International Trade. His research interests are International Economics, Regionalism, Development Economics, and Industrial Economics. He is an HEC approved supervisor. His leisure time activities include hiking, reading about world history and international experiences, in addition to spending quality time with family.
