The National Institute of Global Strategy (NIGS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences established in 2016, has nominated Ambassador (Retired) Syed Hasan Javed, Director, Chinese Studies Centre of Excellence, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad as a ‘Special Research Fellow’ along with Eight other eminent Experts from Asian countries. He was Pakistan’s Ambassador in Mauritius, Singapore and Germany before retirement in December, 2015. He is author of several books on China. He is also on the Global Advisory Board of ‘China Create Foundation’ (CCF) established in December 2016, to complement the work of Nobel Prize Foundation.
Budget Seminar at COMSATS University
Director, Chinese Studies Center of
Excellence Ambassador (Retired) Syed Hasan Javed participated in a Seminar on ‘The
State of Economy and Federal Budget 2017 -18’ held on 25 April, 2017 at COMSATS
University. He was part of the Panel discussion on ‘China Pakistan Economic
Corridor’ (CPEC). He stressed on the need for conceptualizing and adopting ‘Enabling
Policies’ through Comprehensive home grown ‘Structural Reforms’, for fully
Workshop on CPEC connectivity at IPRI, Islamabad.
Ambassador (Retired) Syed Hasan Javed participated in a Workshop on ‘CPEC
Connectivity – Region and beyond’ organized on 26 April 2017 by Islamabad
Policy Research Institute. He made a Presentation on ‘CPEC-A Tool for Enhancing
connectivity with Central Asia and Russia’. He observed that the 21st
Century is witnessing the Convergence of civilizations, Re-balancing by Every
Power and Emergence of a Leaderless world. Pakistan’s significance as the ‘Zipper
State’, has only increased.
Seminar on China – Pakistan Relation at CISS
The Center for International Strategic
Studies (CISS) in cooperation with Konrad Ardeneur Stiftung organized a Seminar
on 27 May, 2017. Ambassador (Retired) Syed Hasan Javed, Director (CSC) was
keynote Speaker. The theme was China – Pakistan Relations-Regional Stability
and Afghan situation’. He observed that
China, Russia, Pakistan and Central Asian Republics agreed on the need to
stabilize the situation in Afghanistan.

Islamabad was hosted for a briefing Session by the Chinese Centre of
Excellence, School of Social Sciences and Humanities on Friday 14 April, 2017. The Group comprised Small and
Medium Companies who were keen to explore opportunities of Investment in
Energy, Real Estate, Logistics, Healthcare, Industrial Parks, Agriculture, Food,
Cosmetics, Water and Financial Sectors of Pakistan.

Centre of Excellence in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at NUST
addressed a Seminar on 30 March 2017 on
‘ Opportunities of Higher Education in China’ at the School of Chemicals and
Materials Engineering. He was accompanied by Mr. Zamir Awan, Deputy Director.
The Presentation by Ambassador Javed focused on ‘Human Resource Development;
Lessons from China. Mr. Awan spoke on ‘Methods of University Identification,
Application and Coordination with Chinese Universities’ for Undergraduate,
Masters, Ph.D and Post- Doctoral Scholarships. The Seminar was followed by
