The first Pak-German Seminar on UN Peacekeeping Operations was held at the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) in Islamabad on 17 December 2014. The Seminar was inaugurated by the Rector NUST Engineer Muhammad Asghar.

            Welcoming the guests and participants, the Rector highlighted that Pakistan had enormous UN peacekeeping experience and it ranks amongst the top troop contributing countries (TCC).

The speakers at the forum included German delegates Colonel Reinhard Barz and Lieutenant Colonel Helmut Seidel. Pakistani speakers Lieutenant General (Retired) Sikander Afzal, Major General (Retired) Muhammad Khalid, Major General Muhammad Iqbal Aasi and Brigadier (Retired) Mujahid Alam shared their valuable experiences in UN Peacekeeping operations. Diplomats/Military Attachés from various countries, serving and retired armed forces officials of the three services, a large number of researchers and scholars from several universities and think tanks in addition to the faculty and students participated in the event.
