With ever evolving dimensions of the conflicts in various regions across the globe, peacekeepers’ training and sensitization before they are deputed to various volatile regions, have assumed greater importance. Being aware of the current challenges, the department of peacekeeping training remains fully committed in imparting training to all potential Pakistani Peacekeepers, besides entertaining a mix blend of the Foreign Participants from the friendly countries. In sync with the Security Council Resolution A/RES/49/37, 83rd plenary meeting, 9 December 1994 wherein, the training of personnel for peace-keeping operations is essentially the responsibility of Member States, our emphasis stands redoubled. Therefore, likely engagement of peacekeepers with variety of politico-military and socio-cultural challenges/ situations and interaction with large number of UN organizations warranting a diverse responsibilities in the conflict zone, is sufficiently imbedded in various training courses modules.
Pakistan Army’s experience in the past and ongoing missions is suitably dovetailed with the United Nations basic guidelines, skills, practices and procedures, agreed common performance standards and the descriptive materials we consistently receive from the UN ITS. Our ultimate focus remains on the mission accomplishment in line with given mandate observing good principles enshrined in International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
