Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS) UN Peacekeeping Training Department (PKT) planned and conducted Police Officers Training Course Serial 1 from 06 Feb 2017 to 10 Feb 2017. This course, the first of its kind, was attended by Thirty Nine Participants of the Ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), undergoing Police Promotion Training at Punjab Police College Sihala. Some of the participants had already done United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in different countries.      


The Course was run on various modules on different aspects of UN Peacekeeping Operations in the context of UN Specialized Police Training. The participants went through the learning process which included all the necessary UN modules including Core Pre deployment Training (CPTM) and Specialized Military Training (STM) with emphasis on roles and responsibilities as part of UN Police as Staff Officer, Military Observer or Formed Police Unit (FPU). A complete day was earmarked for International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) who taught the participants on IHL and IHRL and all related things subjects related to Human Right Perspective. Besides Peacekeeping Training Department faculty, the lectures/ inter Group activity was delivered/ generated by multidimensional experts and guest speakers which included members from UN Agencies, Senior Armed Forces Officers, UN Mission Experts and few others. An extensive one day situation based scenario oriented “CARANA Exercise” was also conducted which gave lot of situational experience to the participants.


The course ended with a formal closing ceremony which was attended by Principals NIPCONS, Maj Gen Mazhar Saleem (Retd), Sohail Habib Tajik, Commandant Punjab Police College Sihala. Mr. Khalid Qureshi, ex Commandant National Police Academy was the Chief Guest who awarded the certificates to the successful participants.
