ASAB Students stand 6th in an International Young Microbiologist Competition
An online event entitled International Young Microbiologist Competition (IYMC) was co-organised by National Academy of Young Scientists (NAYS) Pakistan, The Microbiologist, India and Microbiology World, Nepal in November 2014. This event attracted young aspiring scientists from various different areas of life-sciences including Microbiology and Biotechnology from around the globe. Miss Faria Khan and Mr Uzair Hashimi of ASAB NUST represented Pakistan in IYMC and presented their idea in the form of a research article on how antibacterial nanoparticles could provide a potential solution to the spread of MRSA in hospital settings. Their submission secured them the position of 5th runners-up in this global competition. They had previously worked on antibacterial nanoparticles as part of their final year university research project which was supervised by Dr Hussnain Janjua of ASAB.
