Dr. Ghulam Rasool Chaudhry, an eminent scientist and professor of molecular biology from Department of Biological Sciences and OU-WB Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, Oakland University Rochester, Michigan, USA, visited ASAB on January 21, 2015. Prof. Chaudhry is among the distinguished professors in foreign universities who are actively collaborating with researchers at ASAB.
Prof. Chaudhry had an interactive session with the ASAB faculty where various different scientific projects and innovative ideas were discussed. Following this session, the distinguished guest delivered a lecture on “the therapeutic potential of stem cells”. The lecture was attended by ASAB faculty and students and it provided them an opportunity to learn about the significant role of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in treating spinal cord injuries by engrafting these cells. Students expressed their interest by keenly participating in the question and answer session. At the end Principal ASAB, Dr. Peter John presented a souvenir to Dr. Ghulam Rasool and thanked him for sharing his research work. Prof. Chaudhry also encouraged the students and faculty to widen the scope of their research. He offered all his possible support and expressed desire for further collaboration with ASAB in future.
