A one-day international seminar titled “Emerging Trends in Drug Design and Development” was held at the Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB) on the 7th of October, 2015. The focal person of the event was Dr. Najam-us-Sahar Sadaf Zaidi, Assistant Professor and Head of Industrial Biotechnology Department at ASAB. Speakers included renowned scientists working in the field of biotechnology and medicinal chemistry. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Sung-Yum Seo, Professor at the Department of Biology, College of Natural Sciences, Kongju National University, Republic of Korea. In his talk on “Drug Development through Enzyme based, Cell based and Animal Studies”, Dr. Seo shared his experiences in the field from an international perspective. As an invited speaker, Dr. Zaman Ashraf, Assistant Professor at Allama Iqbal Open University and Post-Doc Fellow at the Kongju National University, Republic of Korea, delivered a presentation on the development of tyrosinase inhibitors. He shared his findings of the studies carried out in collaboration with Dr. Zaidi’s group at Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences focused on the design and development of new inhibitory strategies against mushroom tyrosinases. The speakers and audience lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for holding the event.
