Dr. Muhammad Qasim Hayat* and his PhD Student Uzma has attended the Global Carex Group meeting at The Morton Arboretum, 4100 IL-53, LISLE, IL 60532, USA on 26 to 27 Jan, 2017. Uzma participated through the Skype. This international collaborative group aims to produce a global sectional revision of Carex (Cyperaceae) plants and its embedded genera (Cymophyllus, Kobresia, Uncinia, and Schoenoxiphium) through collaborations among researchers on all continents where Carex may be found, The group is building a phylogenetic framework using DNA sequence data as a foundation for a global reclassification. At the same time, they are enhancing tools of online biodiversity informatics, strengthening international collaboration, and training students and young researchers in the sedge systematics.
