Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB) organised an Open House on 8th June, 2015 for the outgoing BS class of 2015. This event provided the students a platform to showcase their final-year research projects and interact with representatives of the industry to learn about future prospects. The guest list included a number of representatives from research laboratories and organisations as well as the industry. A few guests were invited to speak about their organisations, the type of research being conducted and the potential opportunities for students. Among the notable guest speakers were the Director of Shifa Clinical Research Center, Prof. Dr. K.H. Mujtaba Quadri and head of the diagnostics lab at Nuclear Medicine Oncology and Radiotherapy Institute (NORI) Dr. Abida Raza. The speakers gave informative and inspirational talks and emphasized on the need for applied research that can directly benefit the society. It was also stressed that interpersonal skills, commitment and hard-work are just as important in securing a position with an organisation as any degree or other forms of formal qualification. Poster presentations by the students and an intellectually stimulating interactive session between students and the guests concluded this event.
