Planning, Establishing and Managing Technology Incubators was organized from 6th-7th November, 2013 for the R&D Organizations of Ministry of Sciences and Technology (MoST). Secretary MoST, Mr. Kamran Ali, gave examples of nations like Japan that invested in R&D for their progress. “We have high skill but zero marketing” he mentioned, talking about importance of commercialization.
Mr. Akhtar Ali Qureshi started the session with an ice breaker. His opening message was that technology was beneficial to humans only when properly commercialized. The second session was conducted by Ms. Sanna Choudhary, Business Development Manager at Technology Incubation Center (TIC), CIE, who went into further detail about the cycle of selection of incubates followed by their Monitoring and Evaluation procedure. Mr. Shabbir Khan, VF at SEECS gave a lecture focused on Intellectual Property and the technicalities involved with it. A visit of TIC (Technology Incubation Centre) NUST was also arranged in order to provide an opportunity to the participants to come in direct contact with the incubates and learn out of their experience.
Rector NUST graced the closing ceremony along with Dr. Asif Raza Pro-Rector Academics. The participants of the workshop gave a very positive feedback and also demanded to have another detailed session on the topic. Rector NUST distributed the Certificates and concluded the workshop.
