After the successful launch of the First node of that think tank, Global Think Tank Network, called the Joint Pakistan China Think Tank node, this summer high level meetings were arranged with the leading intellectuals and academicians of the US, thus, informally initiating the second node of think tank called the US-Pakistan Think Tank Node. In this regards, interactive and orientation sessions were arranged. The meetings were initiated on GTTN’s behalf by Ms. Tehreem Saifey, Senior Specialist Foreign Policy & Communications. The academics with which these meetings took place included senior professor emeritus of Urban Planning and the Chair of the MIT faculty; and Noam Chomsky, Institute Professor and Professor Emeritus, Linguistics, MIT.
With Mr. Chomsky a detailed interview was also conducted on behalf of NUST on the US energy policy and Pakistan's current power and energy crisis. Contact with two other prominent American Universities, George Mason University and George Washington University have also been initiated to discuss joint programs in public policy and civic engagement, respectively. Initial meetings with prominent intellectuals from the Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley have also taken place. Follow up meetings shall be planned soon.
