A four-member delegation from The Institut Darul Ridzuan (IDR), a Malaysian Think Tank, visited
NUST Global Think Tank Network on Friday, January 22, 2016. The visit centered on exploring avenues
for collaboration and signing a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure long term constructive linkage
of the two organizations.
President GTTN Mr. Amer Hashmi, Director Operations & Collaboration Brig (R) Amir Yaqub,
and the GTTN team welcomed the delegates. The Malaysian guests were orientated with NUST
knowledge ecosystem and GTTNs functioning and mechanism. Dr. Mazalan Kamis (CEO IDR)
shared his comprehensive views on sustainable knowledge production by taking into account the
Think Tank Apparatus and discussed prospective cooperation of the two think tanks. He also showed
an impressive visual presentation of Perak Province and IDR. He expressed commitment to support
sustainable education systems, knowledge production, and policy advocacy through a significant focus
on innovation-based standards.
In the wrap up session, the discussants underscored a dire need to continually improve and enhance the
functioning of Think Tanks in order to ripe maximum benefits for the emerging youth by giving them
an elaborated platform to voice their opinions and rich ideas. Malaysian guests showed high interest in
signing MoU with GTTN, which was the successful outcome of this gathering.
