Speaker Profile:
Professor Dr Mowadat Hussain Rana, MBBS, MCPS, FCPS, DCPS-HPE, MCPS-HPE, D-CBT (Oxford), MRCPsych (UK), FRCPsych (UK), a gold medalist graduate of the pioneer batch of Army Medical College, is the Chief Editor of the Journal of Pakistan Psychiatric Society, Chairman, The Healing Triad-Pakistan, the Chair of Department of Behavioural Sciences of University of Health Sciences, Lahore and Director General of NUST Centre for Trauma Research and Psychosocial Interventions. Dr Rana is the Patron EMDR Pakistan and the founding Secretary General of EMDR Asia and Honorary Professor at Robert Gordon University, United Kingdom. An author of twelve books, and more than fifty national and international publications, he was declared the best University Teacher in the field of Medicine by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, in 2007, and is the recipient of Sitara e Imtiaz (Star of Excellence) from the Government of Pakistan. His interests include psychotrauma, health professions education and psychosocial interventions in the field of mental health. Professor Rana retired from Pakistan Armed Forces as a Brigadier after holding various academic, clinical, and teaching positions including Advisor in Psychiatry and the founding Commandant of Armed Forces Institute of Mental Health. He has been the Dean of Faculty of Psychiatry of College of Physicians, and Surgeons, Pakistan.
