D​r. Syed Amer Ahsan Gilani is working as Head of Department at the Department of Information Security, NUST Military College of Signals. He completed his PhD in Electronics Engineering from Surrey Space Centre, University of Surrey, UK in 2012. His PhD work was related to Nonlinear Bayesian estimation/filtering with applications to satellite navigation and tracking. He has done Masters in Satellite Engineering from University of Surrey, UK in 2007. His MSc thesis was related to design and development of Double Gimbal Control Moment Gyroscopes for satellite attitude control. In his post PhD official assignments, worked on large scale VSAT-based satellite communication system and terrestrial wireless sensor network projects for government agencies. ​​
