Dr. Monis Ikhlaq did his BE Electrical Telecom and MS Information Security from National University of Sciences and Technology. Later he did MPhil in Computer Security and PhD in Computer Security from University of Bradford, UK

Dr. Monis Ikhlaq has

  • Attained “Shine 2011 Award” from British Council and nominated among outstanding students who flourished in UK. 
  • Interviewed in University PG Research News Letter for contribution and research in NSRG. 
  • Represented University of Bradford in Cumberland Conference “Is There Life After PhD” in 2009 on invitation of Her Majesty The Queen of UK.

    June 2011 to May 2012:  Part Time Research Assistant in Network Security Research Group (NSRG), University of Bradford, UK
  • Pioneer member of NSRG, jointly established by Syphan Technology, UK and University of Bradford. 
  • Contributed in developing better threat detection algorithms for time-critical, secure and high speed Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS).
  • Taught PG Courses in School of Computing, Informatics and Media Studies (SCIM) - Networks & Protocols, Internet Security & Protocols and Introduction to Cryptography. 
  • Actively involved in UG and PG research projects and has co-supervised few research projects with PhD supervisors in Computer Security.
  • Actively participated in organizing international conferences and workshops - IEEE 23rd AINA 2009, IEEE 10th CIT 2010 and 27th UKPEW 2011.
  • Preparing research proposals to attain financial grants from European Union and UK organizations: “Network Security against Multi-vector Attack through Effective Intrusion Detection Algorithms” under the auspices of Security Calls: FP7-SEC-2010-1, ESPRC Research Proposal on “State-based Inspection of Network Security Behaviour for Improved attack Protection” and proposal for Technology Strategy Board Competition for Funding, May 2010. 
  • Affiliated with university Knowledge Transfer Project (KTP) Committee to coordinate with industry for possible research collaboration. 
  • Established expertise in analysis and evaluation of research in Network Security, Wireless Networks, Ad hoc Networks and Sensor Networks. 
  • Affiliated with ElSevier, IEEE and WSEAS for the review of submitted research work.

  • Principle Research Coordinator with MarQuest Limited, UK. MarQuest is Network Monitoring, Security and Wireless Solution providers. Through MarQuest have  established contacts with few leading security solution providers like Motorola,  NetOptics and Wild Packets. Jointly, we had arranged a workshop on “High Speed  Network Monitoring for Security and Performance” in July 2010 and have also   hosted UK Performance Engg Workshop (UKPEW) 2011 in July 2011 at University of  Bradford.
