Role of Intellectual Property Rights in Commercialization of Research

NESCOM Lecture Forum (NLF) under Research & Academia Coordination Dte (RAC) is conducting informative Lecture series to strengthen bilateral relationships of industry and academia by sharing experiences and innovations for much needed research culture in Pakistan and integrate R & D endeavors of industry and academia for application.

In this regard, an interactive lecture has been scheduled on the title “Role of intellectual Property Rights in  Commercialization of Research”. The said lecture will focus on how knowledge produced in universities and Pakistani Research Organizations can be transferred, used in industries to contribute in industrial development, economic growth and improvement in standards of living.  The issue is complex because universities and PROs have a broad and changing role in national innovation system that ranges from general education to basic research. The only way we can move towards commercialization of research is through Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). IPRs play a positive role in encouraging new business development, rationalization of inefficient industry, including technology acquisition and innovation. The session will also include the case studies of the greatest commercialization successes of the world and our way forward for commercialization of research of Pakistani Research Organizations, academia and industry.
