Disaster Management Exhibition 20-21 Nov 2013 at University of Peshawar
1. General. The two days, fifth annual Disaster Management Exhibition held at University of Peshawar (UoP). The event was jointly organized by Centre for Disaster Preparedness and Management UoP, ACF International and UNESCO Pakistan. Forty six national and international organizations dealing natural and man-made disaster participated in the event which includes NDMA, PDMA, ACF and UNESCO etc. MCE also participated in the exhibition and represented NUST.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber on Higher Education Mr. MushtaqGhani. He, accompanied by Vice Chancellor UoP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasul Jan and Director CDPM Prof. Dr. Amir Nawaz Khan visited the stalls.
2. Participation by MCE. MCE participated in fifth annual Disaster Management Exhibition held at University of Peshawar (UoP) and represented NUST at the mega event apprise the audience about NUST’s contribution in Disaster Management in terms of capacity building. Following faculty members of MCE participated, established and managed NUST Stall in the exhibition.

3. Expected Outcome / Benefits to NUST. Participation in DM Exhibition fetched fol benefits.
a. The participants of the exhibition and visitors were acquainted with the NUST’s contributions in the field of disaster management with particular emphasis on capacity building.
b. Participants were informed, which was later quoted by chief guest of closing ceremony Mr Siraj Ul Haq (Senior Minister and Finance Minister of KPK), that NUST took lead in introducing MS Program in Disaster Management in the Country.
c. Students also took keen interests in the MS Programs being offered by NUST (MCE) and it is expected that a substantial increase will be observed during next intake of the MS Disaster Management.
4. Way Forward. MCE (NUST) had already organized 1 day Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction on 4 May 2013. Now MCE is planning to organize International Workshop on Disaster Management at H-12 Campus with collaboration of UNICEF. Necessary coordination is being carried out and the progress and program will be shared with HQ NUST shortly.
