Rector NUST Visit to DME
Rector NUST Lt. Gen. (R) Naweed Zaman, HI (M), visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering on December 27th. The rector’s visit was part of his overall visit to the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The rector, accompanied by the Commandant CEME, was received by the HoD and faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The rector was apprised of the various key R&D activities being undertaken by the department. Lt. Gen. ® Naweed was briefed by students of DE-36 (Mechanical) about the ongoing SAE-BAJA development project. The rector took keen interest in product development initiatives of the Automotive Research Group under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Raja Amir Azim. The high mobility unmanned ground vehicle and composite based jerry cans for the armed forces were presented to the rector, who appreciated the efforts of the department towards catering for the latest combat driven requirements of the armed forces. Later, the rector visited the recently established Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Lab, under supervision of the HoD Assoc. Prof. Col. Dr. Khalid Mahmood. Rector NUST Lt. Gen. ® Naweed, was of the view that additive manufacturing technologies such as 3-D printing should be widely researched and evaluated for their potential use in the local manufacturing industry. The rector was also accompanied by Pro-Rector Finance and Director Academics NUST during his visit to the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
