NC Ali Raza ul Islam, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering CEME, has been appointed the Regional Chair for the South West Asia Region of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). NC Ali has been engaged with ASME since 2013 when he joined the society as Deputy Director (Human Resource). ASME is the largest professional body of mechanical engineers, with over 140,000 members in 158 countries worldwide. In his capacity as the Student Regional Chair, NC Ali will lead all strategic planning and control of activities being conducted under the emblem of ASME across South Asian universities. As Regional Chair of ASME student wing, NC Ali’s appointment is a testament of the efforts of students and faculty from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, CEME-NUST in earning the department and college its place amongst leading professional organizations. The department holds the distinction of having two regional chairs.
