Dr Taosif  Iqbal received his PhD degree in Power Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University China, in 2019. He is serving as Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering, College of E&ME, NUST. His research focuses on modelling and control of power converters.​​

1.    Single stage DC-AC high gain boost inverter. A novel circuit topology is introduced for DC-AC power inversion from low voltage sources like solar panels or fuel cells. This topology includes coupled inductor for boosting low voltage. Boost factor depends on ratio of secondary to primary windings and the duty cycle. Mathematical model is derived and simulated in MATLAB. Hardware realized using power IGBTs and ferrite core based coupled inductor. Pulse width modulation was written/compiled in code composer studio (CCS) and implemented on DSP TMS320F28835 processor.

2.    On-demand hydrogen generation system for PEM fuel cell-based power generator Hydrogen generator is composed of air tight container with powdered fuel inside, water reservoir, pumps, a safety valve and PIC microcontroller-based control board. PEM fuel cell requires to be operated at 50kPa with 100% pure hydrogen. So, PID control system is developed to maintain the pressure and keep the fuel cell safe during power generation. Pressure, voltage and current sensors are implemented on microcontroller and accordingly pumps and valve are controlled, a patent is applied for this technology.

3.    Voltage and peak current modes control system design for dc-dc buck power supply Mathematical model was developed and simulated in MATLAB, compensator designed for voltage and peak current modes using SISO tool. Analogue controller implemented using UC3843 IC with selection between open loop, voltage mode control or current mode control. Power stage is based on MOSFET 75n75 and driving ic IR2125.
