Engr Farrukh Mazhar is serving as Associate Professor and Group Head of Aerospace Structures and Solid Mechanics at the Department of Aerospace Engineering, College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE), NUST. He completed his undergraduate studies from NUST, CAE Risalpur in 2000, in Aerospace Engineering specialty. He holds a Masters degree in Aerospace Structures and Solid Mechanics from Air University Islamabad (2007) and presently undergoing PhD degree in Aerospace Applications of Meshfree Methods from NUST. His experience includes 5 years of managing O-level and I-level maintenance of aircraft and aero-engines, one year as Deputy Chief Engineer of Technology at the Aircraft Manufacturing Factory (AMF), PAC Kamra; 1 year as R&D engineer at Advanced Engineering Research Organization (AERO), Wah; 2 years of participation in aircraft structure design and fatigue testing in China. Since 2005 he is serving as academician at CAE. He worked in Industrial Engineering Dept for 2 years and 8 years in Aerospace Engineering Dept as full time faculty member.
His research is being focused on solving complex design and analysis problems related to aerospace structures, neural networks, genetic algorithms, engineering analysis software tools, Meshfree methods, UAV and composites design. 
Design of UAV structure, automobile suspension optimization, FSI, auto-pilot and flight control design, system identification of aerospace vehicles, composite laminate optimization, software tools to assist in teaching aerospace structures, computational methods in solids and fluids (FEM, CFD, meshfree methods)
