Engr. Syed Waqas Hussain is an assistant professor of structures at the department of aerospace engineering, College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE) National University of Sciences& Technology (NUST) Pakistan. He completed his undergraduate studies from CAE, NUST Risalpur in 2011, in the specialty of Aerospace Engineering. He holds a Master’s degree in Materials and Surface Engineering from SCME, NUST Islamabad. His industrial experience includes six years of managing O-level and I-level maintenance of combat aircraft at one fighter squadron and two Aircraft Engineering Squadrons of Pakistan Air Force. Since 2018 he has been involved with materials’ research and primary focus has been on evaluation of potential material candidates, for replacement on future aircraft structures, while bearing high research and tailorability capacity. Some of his recent research outcomes include:-
Development of High entropy alloys for incorporation of ceramic reinforcements
Development of High entropy alloy-based composites for aerospace applications
Mechanical testing of HEAs and HEA-based composites
Some of his on-going projects include: -
Mechanical properties optimization of HEA- based composites
FE analysis for FOS improvement through material replacements in aerospace structures
