Dr. Mohtashim Mansoor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, College of Aeronautical Engineering (CAE) at National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Pakistan. He completed his undergraduate studies from CAE, NUST in Aerospace Engineering in 2004, winning Rector NUST Gold Medal for Best Project in Aerospace Engineering and President Gold Medal for best performance in Aerospace Engineering. He held various technical and managerial supervisory positions in aviation industry from 2004 till 2009. He joined Air University Islamabad in 2009 to purse his MS in Aerospace Engineering, where his research focused on MEMS sensors for Aerospace / Fluid dynamics applications and won Silver Medal in MS Aerospace Program. Later in 2012 he pursued his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Air University Islamabad, focusing his research on developing MEMS Aspirating Probe for entropy sensing in gas turbines. He carried out collaborative research with HVMS (High Voltage MicroElectronics and Sensors) group at Center for Advanced Photonics and Electronics (CAPE) and Whittle Laboratory, both at University of Cambridge UK during his PhD.

Some of his on-going projects include: -

Application of MEMS pressure, temperature and wall shear stress sensor on airfoil for estimation of lift, drag and flow separation over the airfoil.
Onboard sensing of key aerodynamic parameters on a flying UAV / MAV
Wireless transmission of Aerodynamic parameters from a UAV / MAV
Indigenous development of Thrust Measurement System (TMS) for turbojet engine test beds
Indigenous development of thermal management system for instrument bay of airplanes using solid state heat pumps
Investigation for utilization of thermal flow sensors for inertial navigation system
