Aerodynamics Lab

One supersonic and two subsonic wind tunnels for training and Project/ Research work are main attractions in this Lab, which can be used to investigate flow over various types of geometries / configurations. The super-sonic wind tunnel has provision for 2 x 2 inches and 4 x 4 inches test sections and is capable of producing flow in the range of 1.6 to 3.75 Mach Numbers. It is equipped with SCHLIEREN system for shock wave capturing and is a useful aerodynamics educational tool. The subsonic wind tunnels have test sections of 3 ft x 2 ft and 1 ft x 1 ft respectively. Subsonic wind tunnel can test scaled models of lifting bodies and has a computerized data acquisition system that can measure forces and moments around three axes. Flow Visualization Apparatus (Smoke Tunnel); Free/Forced Vortex Apparatus, Laminar/ Turbulent flow apparatus, Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) and Hydrogen Bubble Flow Visualization System are some of the other main equipment in Aerodynamics Lab. ​
