Materials Science Lab

This lab provides facilities for the study of metallurgical properties of various types of structural materials. Ovens, Polishing Machines, Microscopes and a Polarograph are some of the equipment that can be employed in Non-Destructive Testing of materials and parts. Recently, this lab has acquired a Rockwell Harness Tester. This lab also has a Mobile Metal Analyzer with an on-board computer system. Vibration and Acoustic Test Apparatus available in the lab permit the study of unsteady forces. A Creep Testing Machine is also available to study time dependent behavior of different materials. This Creep testing facility can test at elevated temperatures. A new attraction being inducted in near future is the Metallurgical Computerized Microscope with image capturing facility.
