​FAROOQ AHMAD TAHIR was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan. He completed his FSc examination in 2001 securing 2nd Posotion in "Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Faisalabad" and won prestigious Quaid-e-Azam scholarship for his Bachelor Studies in Engineering. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Pakistan in 2005. In 2008, He was awarded Masters Degree in Radio Frequency Telecommunications and Microelectronics (TRFM) from the University of Nice, Sophia Antipolis, France. Since Sept. 2008 to Sept. 2011, FAROOQ was working towards his PhD Degree in a leading French Research Lab LAAS-CNRS Toulouse, France under the Research Group “Micro and Nanosystems for Wireless Communications”. During PhD, his research was focused on "Electromagnetic Modeling and Design of Eelctronically Reconfigurable Printed Reflectarray Antenna for LEO Satellites in X-Band". This Research was carreid out under a Joint Research Project of Eurpean Space Agency (ESA), Thales Alenia Space, and French Research Agency. He received Doctorate Degree in September 2011 from National Polytechnique Institute of Toulouse (INPT), University of Toulouse, France. His PhD Thesis was nominated for Best Thesis Prize of 2011 at National Polytechnique Institute of Toulouse, France.
FAROOQ has also been involved in the project entitled "RF MEMS-Based Reconfigurable Reflectarray Antenna (R3MEMS)" funded by French Research Agency and Thales Alenia Space. Under this project, he worked towards the Development of "Equivalent Electrical Circuit for RF MEMS-Based Microstrip Patch Phase Shifter".

He is member of US Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (I EEE) and IEEE AP-S (Antennas and Propagation Society).  His PhD Thesis can be downloaded from his French University link below.
