Dr. Zuhair Khan works as Associate Prof. at the USPCAS-E, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). His previous professional assignment was at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he has worked as Senior Research Fellow from 08/2010 to 08/2012.

Dr. Zuhair has also served as Assistant Prof. at the Bahauddin Zakariya University (Multan) and COMSATS Inst of Information Technology (Islbd.)

He was a postdoctoral research associate in the Nuclear Hydrogen Development and Proton Engineering Frontier Projects at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI).

Dr. Zuhair has given many contributed talks and seminars, served as a reviewer for various scientific publications. He has authored and co-authored over 50 journal/confereence publications and carry a diverse experience in different aspects of Advanced Materials, Thin Films, Surface + Coatings Technology, Hot corrosion, thin films and materials for PV and electrochemical enegines, etc. 

 

Moreover, Dr Zuhair has been Resource Person from Pakistan on Energy, Environment and Ecosystems (3E) Nexus Initiative for Sustainable Development in Asian Countries (forum headquarterd at the University of Tokyo, Japan). He is a Focal Person for arranging reviews of research proposals submitted under NRPU to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and also serves as expert reviewer for other HEC's award programs such as the "Best Scholar", "Best Paper", and Peridot, etc. He was also a winner of a competitive research grant (US$ 150000/-) from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan under National Research Program for Universities (NRPU). He is a focal Person of a proposed project (PC-1) worth $ 2.35 Mill. The project titled “Development of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies” is endoresed by the Ministry of S&T (MoST, Pak) and is currently with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning of Pakistan for decision on funding.

Under the USPACS-E initiatives of the USAID, Dr Zuhair with a funding of ~$1.4 Mill, has directed the commissioning of the following state of the art research labs under the umbrella of "Advanced Energy Materials & Systems" domain: 

(a) Microstructure & microchemistry analyses
(b) Vapor phase deposition & plasma manufacturing
(c) Thermal spray facility 
(d) Wet-chemistry synthesis lab.
(e) Heat treatment facility 
(f) Machine shop and manufacturing
(g) Opto-electronic characterization
(h) Electromagnetic energy source processing
(i) Thermal analysis, etc

Dr Zuhair has been heading this Center with an overall 16+ PhD strong faculty members in diversified areas such as Elect Engg, Mech Engg, Materials, Chemistry, Physics, Chem Engg, Economics, Biotechnology, etc. Moreover, he administers following academic matters at the USPCAS-E: 

(a) Conduct of admission interviews for 3xMS and 1xPhD programs
(b) Scheduling and smooth conduct of semester and the PG classeses 
(c) Providing leadership in matters such as examinations, declaration of results, discipline, etc.
(d) Curriculum development
(e) procurement of books and equipment

Dr Zuhair has further served as HoD-Research and Dir Local Quality Enhancemnet Cell (DLQEC) of the USPCAS-E.
