Mission

The core mission of the Centre is to efficiently address and implement the E3 criteria (Energy, Environment and Economy) for sustainable societal development. The Centre is going to create an ecosystem for addressing energy requirements by influencing policy makers, developing technologies, human resources and mobilizing communities for energy conservation.​

These undertakings are designed to support Pakistan’s economic development by strengthening the relevance and responsiveness of universities.

Objectives & Vision

The objective of the Center is to introduce and consolidate new programs, especially national projects that can be directly integrated with larger initiatives in the country. Biofuels from energy crops (non-edible) and coal gasification and conversion to high quality motor fuel are relevant examples.

The Centre’s vision resides in setting up pilot plants to demonstrate the feasibility of specific programs in various energy sectors and to perform advanced research, thus fostering meaningful and sustainable academia-industry collaboration.State of the art labs are being setup for advance research in areas such as biofuels, electrical power systems, solar PV, thermal, advanced energy materials etc. These labs will not only trained high intellect human resource but will also provide support to the relevant industries.

The vision is to establish Centre for Advance Studies in Energy at NUST (USPCAS-E) that will work in close collaboration with other USPCAS programs in Energy at UET Peshawar and US Partnering Arizona State University (ASU) and Oregon State University (ASU). USPCAS will provide important bridges across the academia-industry and academia-government respective efforts in parallel. Interaction with industry will help provide hands on opportunity mentoring graduates and entrepreneurs employing efficient energy solutions vital to country’s sustainable economy. Working with the government will effectively develop relevant policies on disseminating high quality applied research findings and comparative analysis on competing technologies to Senate committees, public offices and policy institutes that are valued by the industry and the government.
